Things I learned from Glee, You are never allowed to move on from your high school romance. Ever. Any relationship you had in college or after you graduate is meaningless. You will never change as a person after high school. Your life is defined by your High School romance. Anything that happens to you outside of your high school romance is effectively irrelevant to you as a person.
This is something about the show that bugs me so much. Because as you get older the more insignificant and irrelevant high school becomes. In the end, it’s such a small ratio to the rest of your life. Within 5 years of leaving high school, you will probably only really still know a couple of people that you knew, and it’s all just fading memories, some nostalgic and some not so good. And as you get wiser and more in tune with the real world you’ll also realize that a lot of the people you knew in high school that you thought were pretty cool were really absolute fucking morons and the moment you meet someone that reminds you of them, you’ll run a mile.
I can’t think of a bigger nightmare than being trapped in the world Glee portrays - where you just can’t escape from high school, where all of your significant relationships were formed when you were a child, where you can’t form new friendships or romances because you’re stuck in some hellish endgame.
And that’s without even touching on the other inherent problems within the Glee world.
And to be specific - I honestly don’t know how Kurt hasn’t run amok with some poisoned pre-baked goods by now.
All I’m gonna say is; thank god I’m not still with the guys I dated in high school.
